February Boutique Wine Events Deserve Rightful Place on Your Calendar
We’ve all been to some of the mega-colossal wine events that have pushed Sonoma County to the top of wine lovers’ minds across this great land of ours. But sometimes people crave smaller, more intimate experiences where quiet conversation and luscious vintages can be savored.
In the next few weeks, there are some lovely little events that may satisfy that craving.
First is Mendocino County’s Alsace in Anderson Valley event. This tenth annual festival offers wine and food pairings of Alsace-style wines and a celebrity chef winemaker’s dinner. The heart of the action is at the Mendocino County Fairgrounds Saturday, February 7 and Sunday, February 8. For more information, visit avwines.com
Mid-month, lovers can celebrate everything Russian River as Taste Route 116 presents Sweet 116 on February 14, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost for tasting at 13 wineries in Forestville, Sebastopol and Santa Rosa is $40 general, $35 wine club members and $10 for designated drivers. Participants receive a hand-painted souvenir logo wine glass. Each glass is unique and created by a Sonoma County artist. At the wineries, participants enjoy decadent treats and gorgeous cheeses.
